Sink Into A World Of See Through Cold |
It's a dark day. It's a day that I hoped would never come. It's an inevitable day. I'm very unhappy to report that after trying to figure out a way to keep shipping costs down, (after the recent Post Office stamp price increase) that I've had to do something that I've tried to avoid at all costs. Every item now carries a $1 shipping charge. $1? What's the big deal you ask? Well, growing up all the mail order I did had postage paid and I've tried to keep true to that but right now with the shipping costs being what they are, the bands don't make money, the label doesn't make anything, the only entity benefitting is the Post Office. So it's a dark day.
All dark days do have a silver lining though! The Zatopeks "Damn Fool Music" CD is at the plant and the Full of Fancy record just got completely mastered, so there's some things to look forward to. |

She Always Does It Too Much |
It’s the “Hey, I thought that was out of print” sale.
As a result of some returns from stores a handful of these titles are available:
The Kung Fu Monkeys “Electric Tangerine Smile” double 7” The International Language of Love CD The Teen Sensation Glasses “ST” CD The Pettyfords “Aloha Means Goodbye” CD Triple Bypass “Yeah, Yeah Punk Rock Big Deal” CD and I'll throw in something else because "Dismissed" and "Books About Miles Davis" are both gone.
And here’s the deal, $15 gets you all of that until I’m out of something and then I’ll swap it out with something else. I’m not planning on selling any of the out of print items individually because this is such a steal.
Paypal $15 to whoaoh@gmail.com Everything will ship media mail, get in touch about international shipping.
In other news, Tin Armor are in the midst recording for a Whoa Oh 7”. We are in the midst of finalizing the Lost Locker Combo art. |

Give Me Your Hard Sell, Give It To Me Hard |
I don't usually announce things until everything is said and done but here's a bunch of stuff in the works. I'd like to formally announce that New Brunswick's own Full of Fancy will be a Whoa Oh record. The album is called "Sweet Baby Jesus" and is an awesome mix of jangly pop and punk rock. It's being mastered at West West Side in early October so expect it in November.
Hopefully ready for early December will be an early works disc from mc chris tentatively titled "mc chris babies", think the muppet babies as it's old and rare stuff with alternate versions of hits like "mc chris #1 with the ladies" and "robitussin."
At some point in time there will be a release by Tin Armor. If you haven't checked out their full length, "A Better Place Than I Have Been" do yourself the favor of running out and grabbing a copy because it may just be my favorite record of the year.
As for the already announced releases, expect theZatopeks "Damn Fool Music" in October/November and the Lost Locker Combo "Freshman Orientation" October/November (if another label doesn't do it first). James Cahill of the Kung Fu Monkeys is up to his eyeballs in brie and his discertation so the compilation album will get done but with no clear date.
I'd like to announce that there's a new podcast which you can find here. The new one is #13 and is all about the 2nd annual Multiple Sclerosis benefit, Carlapalooza. There are a ton of great bands playing and featured on the podcast so I recommend highly that you listen and come out to the shows becaause not only will they be a blast but you can't ask for a better cause.

And There Are No Applause |
So I'm not a good writer and with that (and the help of human nature) I don't write often or at the very minimum put it off for as long as humanly possible. What I should do is force myself to write more in a vain effort of becoming a better writer but again human nature steps in and causes me to avoid the things that I'm no good at, all the while gravitating towards those things that I'm more less good at. I finally got my act together and wrote the stories a mess of releases that I've been putting off for far too long. They never end up as poetic as I picture in my head but that's probably due to the constant ringing from the tinnitus. Anyway, you can find the stories up for "Heartsickle," "Books About Miles Davis," "Headaches and Moodswings," The Ergs/ Lemuria Split and the Vents/ Teen Sensation Glasses Split.
In the coming weeks I'll announce a few new releases but the time tables aren't settled just yet. |

I Don't Wanna Listen To Maria Tonight |
I'm pleased to announce that the Zatopeks' second album will be released in the states on Whoa Oh Records. I've been a huge fan of the band since they sent over their demo (which turned into the International Language of Love) years ago. I was fairly outspoken on the greatness of their first album and how I would have loved to do it. Expect this one to be just as good if not better and to hit the proverbial shelves either by the end of the year or early next year.
Speaking of shelves, in a move that's in everyone's best interest Whoa Oh Records and Redeye distribution will no longer be doing business together after September 1st.
The Ergs Lemuria split will be back in stock in a matter of weeks and this time around it's on colored vinyl, so start returning some cans for the $.05 deposit.
There's a very strong possibility that the Lost Locker Combo debut full length "Freshman Orientation" will be a Whoa Oh record but we won't know for sure until late August.
More to come over the next few weeks, I swear! |
