Story

Sometime in 1999 I got an email from an address I hadn't heard of. I opened it up and it asked if I wanted a 7". I remember that thought that went through my head was "hey a free 7," so I replied sure. The next day I got an email from the same address requesting $3 for the 7", I decided hey why not let me make the kid's day because I anytime we get an order I'm always excited. A few weeks go by and the 7" shows up at my door. I put it on and enjoy each of the first 4 songs. When the 5th song came on I knew that this band was for real. You can pin point Whoa Oh records relationship with the Pettyfords starting with "Tuesday, Thursday Girl" on the "Mmm Pettyfords" 7

Reviews

Mutant Pop catalog:

"Total Mutant Pop-style pop-punk here- great stuff. This sucker is Picks Page worthy- hot tunes 'n' harmonies. The Pettyfords are really cool, the best MP-style pop-punk band from Hawaii (historically one of the top pop-punk scenes in the US). After School Special-influenced pop-punk that'll move your fat ass around the room. Kudos to Whoa Oh Records for the 16 page booklet, it's really easy to blow off a small detail like that and save some bucks. Recommended." - Tim Chandler

Maximum Rock N Roll:

"My Gawd, these kids sound like they're on helium! High speed pop punk with tunes and hooks not unlike Sicko or Nar. If you follow Hawaiian punk at all (am I one of the only ones?), this isn't unlike all the islands' most recent output. Dumb lyrics... no harm, no foul."

Vital Music:

"Lookout pop punk from this Hawaiian quartet. Big whoa oh action and songs about, umm, girls. If you like Ramones-core pop punk, this will suit you well. And they really are from Hawaii!"
